Research Assistant- Internship – St. Louis office
Position Description: The Missouri Coalition for the Environment (MCE) is seeking a professional or graduate intern for the Spring of 2012 to research and referencing towards a major publication on the topic of wetland, floodplains and land. The duration of the internship would be for approximately 8 weeks at 15 hours per week, however, the hours are flexible. The hours, duration, and start date are subject to change based on the applicant’s circumstances and needs of the organization. We would like a start date in January and an end date March. Consideration to stay on in the summer is an option. The intern be assigned research activities including reading literature and reporting findings. This internship is perfect for someone who is already doing research in this area and would like to expand their knowledge.
Basic Qualifications: Excellent organizational skills, ability to work independently, attention to detail, strong oral and written communication skills, ability to work well with others, and proficiency with graphic design, general ability to learn new software and develop content for websites or other appropriate software.
Hours: 15-20 hours/week.

Carter Carburetor Intern - St. Louis office
Position Description: We are currently seeking an intern interested in expanding their knowledge of event planning and community engagement on the Carter Carburetor issue. Read more throughout our website for information. Responsibilities include event logistics and execution, publicity, research, writing and follow-up. You will be working on environmental issues so previous working knowledge of environment issues in the state of Missouri will be helpful.. The internship is approximately twelve weeks at 20 hours per week. The hours, duration, and start date are flexible based on the applicant’s circumstances. The ideal candidate is a self-starter, extroverted, detail-oriented, and hard-working.
Primary Responsibilities
- Assist in the development and execution of an outreach plan that strengthens and builds relationships with and knowledge of key organizations, businesses, community members and community leaders. Manage materials for outreach.
- Attend outreach events.
- Data entry, prospect mailings, and e-Alerts to outreach contacts.
- Complete progress reports and assist with outreach program evaluation.
Basic Qualifications: Strong oral and written communication skills, excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and proficiency with computers. The interns will be required to travel to events throughout Missouri over the course of the internship.
Hours: Approximately 20 hours/week, occasionally on nights and weekends.

Summer Office Coordinator – Internship – St. Louis, MO
The Missouri Coalition for the Environment (MCE) is seeking a office intern for the Summer of 2012. The duration of the internship would be for approximately 12 weeks at 10 hours per week, working on Mondays and Wednesday. The hours, duration, and start date are subject to change based on the applicant’s circumstances. We would like a start date in May and end date August. The Office intern will be expected to be flexible with their activities and be able to manage several aspects of a project at once. The primary focus of this internship is assisting staff with our outreach efforts through communications, organization of events, clerical projects and grassroots organizing. Applicants must have a thirst for work and saving the environment.
Primary Responsibilities

Spring Internship on Nuclear Regulatory Commission – St. Louis, MO
Position Description: The Missouri Coalition for the Environment (MCE) is seeking an undergraduate/graduate student to support our work on nuclear issues. The internship will primarily focus on researching Nuclear Regulatory Commission safety inspections of the Callaway 1 nuclear reactor in mid-Missouri. Other responsibilities will include event planning and political/community outreach. The hours, duration, and start date are flexible based on the applicant’s circumstances. The ideal candidate is a self-starter, extroverted, detail-oriented, and hard-working.
