See the Post Dispatch’s story on Maryland Heights’ plan for transforming fertile, food-growing floodplain into a paved, retail development. They call it “Maryland Pointe”. Lorin gets to the real point, “”To add hundreds of thousands of square feet of impervious surfaces to an area that is naturally inclined to flood from the inside will only make the flooding worse.” Plus, from what economy will all the shoppers come?
