What is the deadline?

Legal Internship – St. Louis, MO


Missouri Coalition for the Environment (MCE) is seeking a legal intern for summer 2010. The duration of the internship would be for approximately ten weeks at 30 hours per week. We are looking for students interested in doing legal research and writing on cutting edge environmental issues particular to Missouri, as well as on issues of national significance. Issues that MCE is currently working on include concentrated animal feeding operations, Missouri water quality issues, opposing a casino project in an environmentally sensitive area, floodplains and wetlands, toxics, and renewable energy, among others.

Law students who have completed either their first or second years of law school will be considered. Renew Missouri Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy Outreach Internship – Columbia, MO


Renew Missouri, a project of the Missouri Coalition for the Environment (MCE) is hiring two Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy Outreach Interns for summer 2010. The internship is approximately twelve weeks at 25 hours per week. The hours, duration, and start date are subject to slight alteration based on the applicant's circumstances.

The ideal candidate is a self-starter, extroverted, detail-oriented, and hard-working. Position Description: Renew Missouri is advancing renewable energy and energy efficiency through an effective five-pronged approach of policy research, education of key decision makers, public education, coalition building, and regulatory oversight. The Renew Missouri Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy Outreach Intern will help implement an educational campaign targeting the general public and Missouri's elected decision makers. The Outreach intern will also activate Missourians online through social networking, e-Alerts, etc.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Working with Renew Missouri staff to design and implement Summer Outreach strategy and goals
  • Mobilizing outreach team volunteers, and providing general volunteer orientation and training.
  • Manage materials for outreach.
  • Attend outreach events.
  • Data entry, prospect mailings, and e-Alerts to outreach contacts.
  • Complete progress reports and assist with outreach program evaluation.

Basic Qualifications: Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, strong oral and written communication skills, and proficiency with computers. The interns will be required to travel to events in Missouri over the course of the internship.
Hours: 25 hours/week, often on nights and weekends.
Compensation: Unlike other internship positions, there may be a $1500 stipend available for this internship. Approved travel expenses and mileage will be covered.

Water Program Research Internship – St. Louis, MO


Missouri Coalition for the Environment (MCE) is seeking a Research intern for summer 2010. The duration of the internship would be for approximately 10-12 weeks at 20-30 hours per week. The hours, duration, and start date are subject to slight alteration based on the applicant's circumstances.

The Research intern will assist with in-depth investigations into primarily water-related Missouri environmental problems by reviewing documentation, compiling and documenting findings, and preparing summaries.

Basic Qualifications: Excellent organizational skills, ability to work independently, attention to detail, strong oral and written communication skills, ability to work well with others, and proficiency with computers.
Hours: 20-30 hours/week.
